XRF Sample Cups and Thin-Film Sample Support Windows are the basic necessities for containing and analyzing samples by XRF spectroscopy. Superficially, the procedure appears relatively simple. Attach a thin-film to one end of a new sample cup, introduce the sample and insert it in an x-ray machine for elemental analysis.

 

In a simple world where there’s only one x-ray machine model with one size XRF sample cup holder and one element of interest in a sample, the process might be simple. However, that is not true to reality. There are innumerable XRF instrumentation manufacturers and different model machines with each having their own requisite type and size  of samples, sample cup holders, multiple elements and concentrations of interest, operating conditions for analysis and the list continues. It is for these reasons that no single XRF Sample Cup and type and gauge of thin-film sample support window will universally suffice.

It’s a challenge to maintain pace with technological XRF instrumentation growth and expanding applications together with additions of XRF instrument manufacturers and routine introduction of newer models. OVERVIEW XRF Sample Cups

 

 

TrimLess® XRF Sample Cups

 

 

The patented TrimLess® XRF Sample Cups are distinct by their full length sleeves used for attaching thin-film sample support windows. The full length sleeves are easy-to-handle and enable complete envelopment of the thin-film between the cell and sleeve. This feature eliminates protrusion of any extraneous thin-film and obviates trimming and contending with annoying static electrically charged clippings. ThermoPlastic® seal venting provision for pressure equalization and external overflow reservoirs are integrated in the cell. Available in nominal 38.2, 38.2, 38.4, 38.6, 42.9 and 43.4mm diameters. XRF SpectroSulfur® Analyzer Sample Cups

 

 

This grouping of XRF SpectroSulfur® Sample Cups are selective for containing petrochemical substances for the analysis of sulfur content using sulfur x-ray instrument analyzers. Variety of sample cups are included with the TrimLess® sample cup product line and a low-profile SpectroSulfur® Sample Cup model used with the XOS, Inc. “Sindie®” instruments and other SpectroSulfur® analyzers with the same physical dimensions. ThermoPlastic® seal venting provision for pressure equalization and external overflow reservoirs are integrated in the cell. XRF SpectroSulfur® Analyzer Sample Cups provided in 42.9mm diameters. XRF Sample Cups Integrate External Overflow Reservoirs and Venting in Re-Sealable Caps

 

 

This grouping of 32 and 40mm diameter XRF sample cups offers the flexibility of re-sealing the cells with the provided rotatable Snap-On Caps. External overflow reservoir and passageway for pressure equalization control are integrated in the cap. Maintain pressure equalization by coinciding venting positions of caps and 32 or 40 mm Cells. External reservoir is integrated in cap. “Snap-On Rings” included for affixing thin-film sample support windows. Leak-resistant sealing. Option of selecting 32mm sample cups with “Snap-On Rings” with a serrated cutting edge for trimming excess thin-film windows. Refer to Series 1300.

XRF Sample Cups Double as Micro-Sample and Internal Standard Sample Cups

 

 

32 and 40mm diameter XRF sample cups are supplied with Collars and “Snap-On Rings” for simplifying thin-film attachment and for “sandwiching” small and limited samples in between a second affixed thin-film. The internal integrated receptacle in the cell bottom accommodates a 0.157” (39.8mm) diameter capillary tube or solid rod for micro-sample mounting. Dual ThermoPlastic® vent holes provide pressure equilibrium during micro sample investigations. Leak-resistant sealing. Option of selecting 32mm sample cups with “Snap-On Rings” with a serrated cutting edge for trimming excess thin-film windows. Refer to Series 1400.

XRF Sample Cup Replacements for Oxford Instruments

 

 

Sample Cups PLUS friction-fitting vented caps integrate external overflow reservoir are replacements for Oxford sample cups Cat. No: 54-LX6922. Designed to directly fit into aluminum sample cup sleeve (P/N L242) available by Oxford Instruments. The sleeves are easily insert into the aluminum sleeve holder and easily removed. Effective seal with aluminum sleeve holder. Refer to Series 1440L.

 


 

 

XRF Double Opened-End Sample Cups 

 

 

Double open-ended 32mm and 40mm diameter sample cups offer the flexibility of pre-attaching thin-film sample support windows, top sample loading and affixing Microporous Film for equalizing the pressure within the sample cup and sample chamber. Supplied with two identical “Snap-On Rings.” Optionally available Slit-Vented “Snap-On Caps,” Series 1600, may be used in lieu of one of the “Snap-On Rings.” Option of selecting 32mm sample cups with “Snap-On Rings” with a serrated cutting edge for trimming excess thin-film windows. Refer to Series 1500.

XRF Vented Sample Cup Caps

 

 

Uniquely designed “Snap-On Caps” boasting four vent slits facilitate pressure equilibrium, reduce powdered sample particle disturbance and potential withdrawal during evacuation or helium flushes. Interior integrated walls establish physical barriers with the Cell necks of 1500 Series sample cups further reducing the likelihood of contained sample withdrawal. Available for 32 and 40mm Series 1500 XRF sample cups. Refer to Series 1600.    

 


 

 

Snap-Post XRF Sample Cups Eliminate Puncturing Vent Holes

 

 

Establish a vent hole in this XRF sample cup by simply snapping a post attached to a ThermoPlastic® seal within an integrated external overflow reservoir. Each XRF sample cup is supplied with a Collar for positioning a thin-film sample support window material followed by affixing a “Snap-On Ring.” Available in 32 and 40mm diameter sizes. Option of selecting 32mm sample cups with “Snap-On Rings” with a serrated cutting edge for trimming excess thin-film windows. Refer to Series 1700.

XRF Single Opened-End Sample Cups

 

 

A basic XRF sample cup with ThermoPlastic® seal venting, external overflow reservoir and unique “bead-to-indent” geometry “Snap-On Rings” to form taut flat thin-film sample support window planes; included Collar may be used for pre-positioning the thin-film. Available in 32 and 40mm diameter sizes. Option of selecting 32mm sample cups with “Snap-On Rings” with a serrated cutting edge for trimming excess thin-film windows. Refer to Series 1800.

Shallow SpectroSulfur® XRF Single Opened-End Sample Cups

 

 

SpectroSulfur® analyzer XRF sample cups are 19mm shallow for use with certain types of x-ray sulfur analyzers designed with unique 42.9mm diameter sample holder dimensions. A ThermoPlastic® seal integrated in the external overflow reservoir is easily rupturable for venting. The uniquely designed “bead-to-indent” geometry of the “Snap-On Ring” to the Cell neck firmly secures the thin-film sample support window for a leak-resistance taut sample plane. Double Open-End XRF Sample Cups

 

 

Contain non-volatile, solid and powdered samples for analysis in air and inert helium flushes. Easy top loading permits pre-assembly of 32 and 40mm diameter XRF sample cups with thin-film sample support windows. Supplied with Collars, to facilitate pre-assemblies; “Snap-On Rings” for firmly securing leak-resistant thin-film sample support window planes. Alternatively, select 32mm sample cups with serrated cutting edged “Snap-On Rings” for trimming excess thin-film windows. Refer to Series 1900.

SpectroCup® Integrated Internal Overflow Reservoir and TrimLess® Sleeve XRF Sample Cup

 

 

The patented SpectroCup® XRF Sample Cups incorporate the unique combination of Internal Overflow Reservoirs and TrimLess® thin-film attachment features. Overflows are captured in the reservoir integrated within the Cell that also serves as a fill level to ensure the analysis of equal volumes of sample. The TrimLess® sleeve feature completely envelops a thin-film sample support window substance eliminating trimming and contending with annoying static cling clippings. Provided with vented “Snap-On Caps” and available in 30.9, 31.5, 34.3, 40.1 and 44.7mm diameters. Refer to Series 2100.

XRF SpectroMicro® Sample Cups

 

 

The patented uniquely “funnel-shaped” XRF Sample Cup Cell allows easy fill of sample substances at the upper wide diameter. Sample substances gravitate downward through the narrower funnel spout to smaller aperture diameters that represent the thin-film sample plane. Offered in four aperture diameters: 6, 10, 15 and 20mm. Furnished with a vented “Snap-On Cap” and designed for accommodation in all standard 32mm diameter sample holders. Refer to Series 3100.
